So I left VOX a few months ago due to some personal/professional issues. Coming back now is something I wanted to do because I miss a lot of the community I had, and also because as neighborhood only, I feel safer. Mostly, I just want to share my new life with whoever is interested and, most of all, document this really exciting part of my life. It won't hurt to get advice from other married people and new Moms. :)
So, we got married July 2, 2008. It was something we had been planning for awhile, but felt compelled to do with a little more intensity since we found out I was pregnant. We went on down to the courthouse and made it official. My grandparents were there for us, but that was it. We both missed having our Moms there, but since we're planning on having a *real* wedding after the baby comes, it wasn't too sad. Damn I look like the marshmallow man! Fat, white, and about to explode. Ugh. Yes, I'm pregnant. Yes, it was a zillion degrees. Yes, I need a tan.
Moving on.....
Pregnancy-wise, I'm moving right along. I've passed the 6 month mark and my belly is growing nicely. Amazingly, I don't have hardly any stretch marks. Whoo hoo!! I did have horrible back spasms for about two weeks that kept me pretty much bed-ridden and doped up. Those have tapered off...thank god. Getting in and out of my underwear was agonizing!! The baby, (which did I mention is a girl?) is moving all the time. She now can kick/punch my book when I'm reading and it's resting on my belly. It's actually really awesome that she's so mobile in there.
We worked for weeks on the nursery. It was this icky room that had been used for our cats and storage....but with new carpet and paint....it's starting to look pretty adorable. My current babies love the room, Mortimer especially. He thinks he owns the crib.
The other animals just really dig the carpet....
We're still waiting on a few pieces like the glider and the changing table (which my Dad is supposed to be making for me), and the curtains (which I have the fabric for, but no clue how to make them (ahem.....any help there would be appreciated...).
Whew! There's a lot going on.

A girl!!!!!!! Wooooop woooooop! Bloody hell you two are going to be fantastic parents. I'm so excited for you! You know what they say though, with a boy you've only got one prick to worry about, with a girl - there are hundreds!! LOL!! Abram's probably already got a list of criteria for any lad trying to get near his princess! hehehe!
Curtains...hmmm...I did make them once, under the watchful eye of my mum. It was kind of easy once I'd cut out the fabric, but I need supervision with a sewing machine. I'm not a pro! Ask Nic, she's da bomb!!!
I was hoping to avoid sewing all together. There's that iron on fabric adhesive that I could hem it with. And I'm not making rommets or anything....just those clips to hold the top. I may just have to wing it as I know no one who sews.
And yes, Daddy is already freaking out about our little girl's chastity and how to keep it in tact for as long as humanly possible. He's going to be wrapped around her little finger.
