One of the "landmarks" for recognizing gender on an ultra sound that they give parents is to look for a turtle shape. This would indicate a boy. At our appointment today the doctor could find no such shape. What she found was what appeared to be a very actively wiggling little non-boy.
My husband was not back from taking the boys to get food yet when she got to the mini ultra-sound machine, so I got to see first. When he did arrive my ten year old somehow got the idea that EVERYONE needed to see and not just my husband which, as I was naked from the waist down under an extremely thin blanket, was awkward to say the least. I explained to my Darling Husband that the doctor had been unable to spot any thing remotely resembling a turtle, and the Dr. chimed in with , "Nope no dangly bits at all," and proceeded to show him.
So he is a little bit freaked out now. He said I would have to learn to sew to make little baby burkas. To which I pointed out that his two youngest nieces run around in varying stages of dress all the time and it is just fine.
Also the doctor said that my belly measures as closer to 26 weeks than 22, but we wont have confirmation until the 19th because that is when my proper ultra-sound is scheduled for.
I guess this would explain why every thing that looks fun to knit for me is for girls. Mmm nesting.

My sister has a friend that told her that he wants only boys. His reason? With boys, you have to worry about one penis. With girls, you have to worry about all of them.
